Kuratsukiso - Kuratsukinosho

Japanese:
Kuratsukiso - Kuratsukinosho
This manor was located across Ishikawa and Kahoku counties in Kaga Province, and its territory was the lower Asano River basin in present-day Kanazawa City. It is also written as Kuratsuki. This area was originally the private land of Nakahara Michishige, but he retained his title of lord and donated it to Kankiko-in Temple in Kyoto (the temple of Empress Bifukumon-in Fujiwara Tokuko, the wife of Emperor Toba). Michishige's son Michikazu was appointed by the shogunate and served as land steward. Michikazu passed on his title of lord to the Michimori-Michifumi lineage (the Nakahara clan) and to the Michimura-Chikamune lineage (the Settsu clan), but by the time of Settsu Shinkan, the title of lord had also passed to the Settsu clan. Shinkan was the head of the Kamakura shogunate and died when the shogunate was destroyed, so his former territory was declared 'kessho' (lost estate), and the Kenmu government granted the fief to Michiri, who considered himself the head of the Nakahara clan. However, Shiri's fief was revoked in 1336 by Ashikaga Takauji in the "Order to Return Lands Confiscated in the Genkō Era," and in the same year, Shinkan's younger brother, Chikahide, was given back Shinkan's former territory as his own. Chikahide was also a bureaucrat in the Kamakura Shogunate, but the previous year he participated in Takauji's campaign in Kyoto, and later became the head of the Muromachi Shogunate's Injury Department. In 1341, most of Kurazuki Manor was handed down by Chikahide to his eldest grandson, Yoshinao, but at this time some of it was donated or donated to his eldest daughter, adopted son, Bodai Temple, and Edo Temple (the former site is now Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto City). Thereafter, the manor was further subdivided as the Settsu clan and the Shogunate donated or donated it to Kyoto Hodō-ji Temple (Rokuō-in), the Nakayama Chikamasa family, Kyoto Nanzen-ji Temple, Kitano Shrine (Kitano Tenmangu Shrine), and others. After Yoshinao, the Settsu clan's fief was passed down to Mitsuchika, Yukichika, Masachika, and Motochika (Motonokatsu), but during the Sengoku period it was gradually encroached upon by the Kaga Ikko-Ikki, leaving only five fiefs within the manor (though at its peak it is thought there were more than 20), and by the 1530s even these had become unowned. Motonokatsu, on the orders of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiharu, asked Honganji Shonyo to restore his fief, but in 1544 Shonyo refused the request, stating that two of the fiefs were unowned territories controlled by the Ikko-Ikki Hatamoto and Gunchu.
