Klinefelter syndrome

In males, the sex chromosome composition is XXY, with two X chromosomes and one Y chromosome. The birth frequency is 1 in 1,000 newborn boys. No particular symptoms are seen in infancy and school-age children, but the development of the testes from puberty does not progress, and the testes become small. Azoospermia ( Male student ) However, the development of the external genitalia is generally normal. Male hormone replacement therapy may be used.

They may have long legs, be tall, have somewhat developed mammary glands, develop breast cancer (rare in men), and have a predisposition to diabetes. They may be first noticed during infertility tests.

In cases of mosaicism where XY cells are present in addition to XXY cells, spermatogenesis is observed and some people are able to have children.

　男性で、性染色体の構成がX染色体2本、Y染色体1本のXXYを示します。出生の頻度は新生児の男児1000人に1人の割合でみられます。幼児期・学童期にはとくに症状はみられませんが、思春期からの精巣の発達が進まず、精巣が小さく無精子症(むせいししょう)となりますが、外性器の発達はほぼ正常です。男性ホルモンの補充が行われることがあります。

　下肢が長く身長が高く、乳腺がいくらか発達したり、男性にはまれな乳がんの発症がみられることもあり、糖尿病になりやすい体質も伴います。不妊の検査で初めて気づかれることがあります。

　XXY細胞以外にXY細胞がみられるモザイクの場合には、精子形成も認められ、子どもをもつことができる人もいます。
