In modern society, companies do not exist in isolation, and various forms of inter-company combinations are taking place. In Japan in particular, inter-company combinations are widespread and close-knit, which is closely related to the high proportion of inter-company transactions in Japan's total transactions. Companies enter into inter-company combinations to stabilize and prolong inter-company transactions, but conversely, the widespread nature of inter-company combinations also means that there is an increase in inter-company transactions. The first two forms of inter-company combinations are corporate keiretsu (corporate affiliations) and secondly, corporate groups, and these are sometimes collectively referred to as corporate groups.
