Japanese: 窪川[町] - くぼかわ

An old town in Takaoka County, occupying the mountainous area upstream of the Shimanto River in the southwest of Kochi Prefecture. Kubokawa, located in the center of the Kubokawa Plateau, is the terminus of the Dosan Line and the starting point of the Tosa Kuroshio Railway. Dairy and beef cattle are thriving here, and the town also produces high-quality rice called Niidamai. In March 2006, the town merged with Taisho Town and Towa Village in Hata County to become Shimanto Town in Takaoka County. 278.08 ^km2 . Population: 14,850 (2003).

高知県南西部，四万十(しまんと)川上流の山地を占める高岡郡の旧町。窪川台地にある中心の窪川は土讃線の終点で土佐くろしお鉄道の起点。乳牛，肉牛の飼育が盛んで，仁井田米という良質の米も産する。2006年３月，幡多郡大正町，十和村と合併し町制，高岡郡四万十町となる。278.08km²。１万4850人（2003）。
