Resonance Raman Scattering - Kyoumei Raman Sanran

In Raman scattering, when the energy of the incident light is matched to the electronic excitation energy of the measured substance, the resonance effect increases the Raman scattering efficiency by more than 10,000 times. This is called resonance Raman scattering. Since the resonance effect appears only in the modes active in the electronic vibrational transition between the resonating excited state and ground state, it is characterized by high sensitivity and high selectivity. Furthermore, in resonance Raman scattering, the selection rules and polarization rules based on the polarizability approximation used in nonresonant Raman scattering break down.

ラマン散乱において，入射光のエネルギーを測定物質の電子励起エネルギーに一致させると，共鳴効果によりラマン散乱効率が1万倍以上に増大する．これを共鳴ラマン散乱という．共鳴している励起状態と基底状態の間の電子振動遷移に活性なモードのみに共鳴効果が現れるため，高感度で高選択性という特徴をもつ．また，共鳴ラマン散乱では，非共鳴ラマン散乱で用いられる分極率近似にもとづく選択則や偏光則は破たんする．
