A medieval German heroic epic poem, written around 1230, by a poet from Bavaria or Austria. The early 16th century "Codex Ambras" is the only copy of this epic. After being kidnapped by the Norman prince Hartmut, Coedrunn endures years of humiliation and patience before being rescued by her fiancée Herwig. In contrast to the Nibelungenlied (c. 1205), which influenced this epic poem, this poem avoids outright revenge and ends with a reconciliation.
