Associated Press

...American news agency. Abbreviation for Associated Press, it has the largest international news network in the United States. It originated from the Harbor News Association, which was jointly formed by six New York newspapers in 1848 to jointly cover European news from ships entering New York Harbor, and was reorganized in 1857 to become the New York AP.
