...A rabbit of the genus Lepus with large ears and hind legs that is widely distributed in North America from southern Canada to Mexico. Four species are known, including the black-tailed jackrabbit L. californicus and the antelope jackrabbit L. alleni , and they are the most common wild rabbit species in North America. They are about 50 cm long, 6.5 cm long, and weigh 2.3 to 4.5 kg.
