Kusayamoro - Kusayamoro

A marine fish belonging to the order Perciformes and family Carangidae. It is also called Kusayamuro and belongs to the genus Carangidae. It reaches a total length of 40 cm, with an elongated body and a high body height, and is hardly flattened laterally. It is distributed through the Izu Islands, Ogasawara Islands, and the Ryukyu Islands to Indonesia. It is considered the most delicious of all horse mackerels when it comes to dried Kusaya fish.

硬骨魚綱スズキ目アジ科に属する海水魚。ムロアジ属に含まれ、クサヤムロともよばれる。全長40センチメートルに達し、体は延長して体高は高く、ほとんど側扁(そくへん)しない。伊豆諸島、小笠原(おがさわら)諸島、南西諸島を経てインドネシアまで分布する。くさやの干物では、アジ類中もっとも美味とされる。
