Born on January 7, 1787. A retainer of the Taku clan, chief retainer of the Hizen Saga domain. Studied under Koga Seiri. In 1818, he gained fame by exchanging poetry and prose with Korean envoys in Tsushima. Later, he became a professor at the domain school, Kodokan. He excelled in Chinese poetry and ink painting on bamboo. Died on October 29, 1867, at the age of 81. His given name was Tsutomu. His nickname was Saiho. He was commonly known as Sasuke. His other pen names included Peizen and Tamameyamasho. His works include "Tsushima Nikki" and his poetry collection "Peizen Shisho."
