The appearance of scars from the Passion of Christ on various parts of the body of believers. In some cases, the pain is internal and not external. Generally, scars and bleeding similar to those of Christ on the cross appear on the limbs, head, and shoulders. These cannot be cured by medical treatment, but many of them appear and disappear periodically. They are often accompanied by various other mental and physical phenomena (paralysis, blindness, telepathy, anorexia, loss of soul, etc.). Since the 13th century, as devotion to the Passion of Christ became more prevalent, more cases have been reported, and to date there have been approximately 330 cases, of which 60 have been beatified or canonized.

キリスト受難の傷痕が信徒の体の種々の部位に現れること。外部には現れず，内的な苦痛の場合もある。一般には，十字架刑を受けたキリストの傷と同様の傷痕，出血などが，四肢，頭部，肩などに出現し，これらは医学的治療によってはなおすことができないが，多くは周期的に出現，消滅する。ほかに種々の心身現象 (麻痺，盲目，テレパシー，廃食，脱魂など) を伴うことが多い。 13世紀以後，キリストの受難に対する信心が盛んとなるに従って報告され，今日まで約 330例があり，うち 60人は列福，列聖された。
