Abukuma metamorphic belt

Japanese:
Abukuma metamorphic belt
This metamorphic belt occupies the main part of the Abukuma Highlands and is indicated by the distribution of the Abukuma Metamorphic Rocks in a broad sense. It is distributed with a large amount of granite. The metamorphic rocks are mainly distributed in the Gosaisho and Takenuki areas. The metamorphic rocks in this region are mainly of mafic origin in the eastern part and are called the Gosaisho Metamorphic Rocks, while the metamorphic rocks in the western part are mainly of sandstone origin and are called the Takanuki Metamorphic Rocks. There are theories regarding the metamorphism and the timing of metamorphism, such as a single metamorphism (low-pressure metamorphism in the Cretaceous Period) or multiple metamorphisms (lianisme-silimanite metamorphism before the low-pressure type). There is also a theory that it is an extension of the Ryoke Belt or Unazuki Belt in southwestern Japan. The radiometric age of the metamorphic rocks and granite is Cretaceous.
