まち【区】

〘名〙① 刀剣類の刃の部分と中子(なかご)の部分との境目。刃方を刃区、棟方を棟区という。〔新刃銘尽(1721)(古事類苑・兵事二八)〕② 矢箆(やの)の先端で鏃(やじり)を挿しこむつけ根。刀剣類の区に対して箆区(のまち)ともいう。※幸若・高たち(室町末‐近世初)「てる井殿に矢ひとすちたてまつらん〈略〉まちをこふしにひっかけ」
