A feudal lord family from the early modern period. They were originally a powerful clan in Kii Province, and took the name Kamei because they lived in Kamei, Kii Province, and moved to Izumo during the Sengoku period. They were vassals of the Amago clan, but when their descendants died out, they were succeeded by Shinjuro Korenori of the Yu clan, a powerful clan in Izumo. Kamei Korenori served under Yamanaka Shikanosuke Yukimori and then Hashiba Hideyoshi, and in 1581 (Tensho 9) became the lord of Shikano Castle in Inaba Province (13,800 koku). In the Battle of Sekigahara, he joined the Eastern Army and was given an increased stipend of 38,000 koku. In 1617 (Genwa 3), during the time of Tsunemasa's son Masamasa, the clan was transferred to Tsuwano Domain in Iwami Province with a fief of 43,000 koku, which remained in place until the Meiji era.
