Kiyomoto Oyo

A Meiji era female Kiyomoto master. Daughter of Enjudayu II, her mother was Oiso. At the age of 19, she married Saito Gennosuke (later Enjudayu IV) as her husband. Born with the excellent artistic talent of her parents, she fully utilized her gifted talent to assist her husband and tirelessly worked hard to improve Kiyomoto's performance. Together with Ichikawa Kumehachi and Utazawa Shibakin III, she was called the "triple of Meiji era female entertainers." She was invited to perform joruri at banquets for nobles and merchants as a patron of Okura of Fukiro in Yokohama, which led to her becoming the foster mother of Enjudayu V. He is also well known as a man who pioneered the development of kouta (traditional Japanese folk song).

明治の女流清元の名手。2世清元延寿太夫(えんじゅだゆう)の娘で、母はお磯(いそ)。19歳のときに斎藤源之助（後の4世延寿太夫）を婿(むこ)に迎える。両親の優れた芸質を生まれながらに備え、恵まれた才能を遺憾なく発揚して夫を補佐(ほさ)し、清元節隆昌(りゅうしょう)のために精進を怠らず、市川九女八(くめはち)、3世哥沢芝金(うたざわしばきん)とともに明治女芸人の三幅対(さんぷくつい)と称せられた。横浜・富貴楼(ふっきろう)お倉の引き立てで、貴顕紳商の宴席の余興に招かれて浄瑠璃(じょうるり)を語っていたことから、5世延寿太夫の養母となる縁が結ばれる端緒となった。また小唄(こうた)発展への道を開拓した功労者としても著名である。
