A village in Takaichi District, located in the central part of Nara Prefecture, at the southern end of the Nara Basin. The Kintetsu Yoshino Line and National Route 169 run through the west, and the Asuka River runs through the center from north to south. From the west to the center, there are many historical sites that are extremely important in Japanese history, such as the areas around Amagasaki Hill, Ishibutai Tomb, and Takamatsuzuka Tomb, which have been developed as the National Asuka Historic Park, as well as many ancient temples such as Asukadera Temple, Okadera Temple, and Tachibana Temple.
