A poet of the mid-Edo period. Some say he was born in 1743 (Kanpo 3). Family name Mori, commonly known as Chujiro. Pen names include Konoka and Yohaku. His given name can also be read as "Takakaze." Born into a family of physicians in Oka, Bungo (Taketa City, Oita Prefecture). He studied under Kamei Nanmei in Fukuoka, Chikuzen, and became the administrator of the Oka domain school, but ran away and wandered around Katori, Shimousa (Katori County, Chiba Prefecture) and Edo, where he formed friendships with Kato Chikage and Murata Shunkai. His major achievement as a poet was the compilation and publication of "Ruidai Reinoshu." He is also known for his many eccentricities, which are recorded in "Zoku Kinsei Sogo," edited by Tsunoda Kyuka, who was also from Bungo. The book is interesting as it vividly conveys the image of a man of high spirits sitting in his dusty study without washing his face or combing his hair. 江戸中期の歌人。寛保3(1743)年生年説もある。姓森,通称忠次郎。号崑岡,楊柏など。名は「たかかぜ」とも読む。豊後岡(大分県竹田市)の医家に生まれる。筑前福岡の亀井南冥に従学,岡藩校の司業となるが出奔,下総香取(千葉県香取郡)や江戸をさすらい,加藤千蔭や村田春海らと親交を持つ。『類題怜野集』の編刊は歌人としての大きな業績。一方で同じ豊後出身の角田九華編『続近世叢語』に伝えられた数々の奇行でも知られる。同書は顔を洗わず髪も梳らず,ほこりだらけの書斎に座す雄風の面影を如実に伝えて興味深い。家集『清原雄風家集』がある。<参考文献>今村孝次『二豊人文志』
