Gyokuro-so

Japanese: 玉露叢 - ぎょくろそう

Miscellaneous history. Author unknown. There is a theory that it was written by Hayashi Razan or Hayashi Gaho, but this is not certain. According to the preface written in 1674 (Enpo 2), the author wrote it like a daily diary as he gained knowledge from a young age. It is a kind of chronological history, starting with Toyotomi Hideyoshi's illness in 1598 (Keicho 3) and going on to February 1681, including the history of the shogunate, rumors from the townspeople, Kyoto's nobles, temples and shrines, military service, and attendance at court. It is particularly detailed on the articles on the Summer Siege of Osaka, 1626 (Kan'ei 3), Iemitsu's visit to Kyoto in 1634, Emperor Meisho's accession to the throne in 1630, the arrival of Koreans in Japan in 1636, and the Shimabara Rebellion in 1637.

雑史。著者不詳。林羅山あるいは林鵞峰著とする説があるが，確かではない。1674年(延宝2)の自序によれば，著者若年よりの見聞を得るにしたがって，日次記（ひなみき）のように書きつけたという。1598年(慶長3)豊臣秀吉病気のことより始まり，1681年2月までの幕府の事歴，市井の風聞，京都公家･寺社，軍役，参勤などに及び一種の編年史である。中でも，大坂夏の陣，1626年(寛永3)，34年の家光上洛，1630年明正天皇即位，36年朝鮮人来朝，37年島原一揆の記事などは詳しい。
