A canal located in Nishi Ward, Osaka City. It is 1.1 kilometers long and 15 meters wide, connecting the old Nishiyokobori River and the old Hyakkenbori, and was excavated by townspeople from Kyomachi-suji, Fushimi, who had moved to the area in 1617 (Genwa 3) as part of a plan for urban reconstruction by Matsudaira Tadaaki, who took over Osaka Castle after its fall. Because it was easy for boats to enter and leave, it contributed to commercial activity throughout the Edo period, with Zakoba (fish market) at its center. After World War II, it was filled in for seawall construction, and all that remains are the monument reading "The Site of Kyomachi Horikawa" and the name of the town.
