In addition to rice, turnips, eggplants, burdock, and other vegetables are cultivated in the Kyoto area, and Uji tea and bamboo shoots (Otokuni County) are also specialties. In the north, Wagyu cattle are raised and silkworms are raised. Timber is produced, and Kitayama logs (cedar) are particularly famous. Yellowtail, mackerel, sardines, and other fish are caught in the Sea of Japan.
