Kang Hee-yan

A painter from the Yi Dynasty of Korea. His pen name was Gyeonggu and his pen name was Jinjae. He was from Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province. He was born into a Confucian family and studied Ming Dynasty painting in China. He was a master of landscapes, flowers, and portraits, but his ink and bamboo paintings were especially highly praised. He was also skilled in poetry and calligraphy, and was said to be the "single master of painting, poetry, and calligraphy." He also wrote books on gardening. 朝鮮，李朝の画家。字は景愚，号は仁斎。慶尚南道晋州の人。儒門に生まれ，中国に遊学して明の絵画を研究。山水，草花，肖像の妙手であったが，特に墨竹が高く評価された。詩文，書もよくし，〈画詩書三絶独歩〉といわれた。園芸に関する著作もある。
