An aromatic unsaturated alcohol, also known as cinnamyl alcohol. Melting point 34.4-34.6°C, boiling point 257.5°C. White crystals with a hyacinth-like odor. It is widely found in nature in the form of an ester, for example in cinnamon, balsam, citronellal oil, and hyacinth oil. It is obtained by hydrolysis of citronellal oil or by reduction of cinnamaldehyde. It is gradually oxidized in air. It is soluble in water, alcohol, ether, and other organic solvents. 芳香族不飽和アルコールの一つで,シンナミルアルコールcinnamyl alcoholともいう。融点34.4~34.6℃,沸点257.5℃。ヒアシンス様の香気を有する白色結晶。エステルの形で天然に広く存在し,たとえばケイ皮,バルサム,蘇合香油,ヒアシンス油中などにみられる。蘇合香油などの加水分解あるいはケイ皮アルデヒドを還元して得られる。空気中で徐々に酸化される。水,アルコール,エーテルその他有機溶媒に溶ける。
