This name, derived from the title of The Gilded Age (1873), a novel co-written by Mark Twain and Charles D. Warner, refers to the period of American society from the end of the Civil War in 1865 to around 1890. It is also called the Gilded Age or the Gilded Age. During this period, America, which had been centered on agriculture, began to industrialize and commercialize, showing unprecedented material prosperity, and people were seduced by the dream of getting rich overnight and rushed to get dollars.
