A general term for flatworms of the Trematode class. There are important parasites of humans and livestock. They have a complex developmental history, evolving from eggs to hairy larvae (miracidium), which then develop into sporocysts and regia in the first intermediate host, and the tailed larvae (cercaria) swim out into the water and enter the second intermediate host, except for Schistosoma blood flukes, and then parasitize the definitive host. Human parasites include Schistosoma japonicum (Japanese blood fluke), Paragonimus haematobium (lung fluke), and Parasitoma caninum (liver fluke).

吸虫綱の扁形動物の総称。人畜に重要な寄生虫がある。複雑な発育史をもち，卵から有毛幼虫（ミラキジウム）になり第１中間宿主の中で胞子嚢幼虫（スポロキスト）からレジアになり，有尾幼虫（ケルカリア）が水中に泳ぎ出しジュウケツキュウチュウ（住血吸虫）類を除き第２中間宿主に入りさらに終宿主に寄生する。人体寄生虫にはニホンジュウケツキュウチュウ（日本住血吸虫），ハイキュウチュウ（肺吸虫），カンキュウチュウ（肝吸虫）などがある。
