Absorptiometric method

Japanese: 吸光光度法 - きゅうこうこうどほう（英語表記）absorptiometric method

A method for quantifying and identifying substances based on the intensity and wavelength of light absorption when transparent or translucent gases, liquids, or solids absorb light. A spectrophotometer is used for measurement, which consists of a light source, a spectroscope, and a light detection device, and the sample is inserted somewhere between the light source and the light detector. A stable incandescent lamp or gas discharge tube is used as the light source, and a prism, filter, and diffraction grating are also used in the spectroscope for spectral separation. A photocell or photomultiplier tube is also used as the light detector.

透明ないし半透明の気体，液体，固体が光を吸収するとき，その吸収の強度と波長から物質の定量･同定を行う方法。測定には分光光度計が用いられるが，これは光源，分光器，および光検出装置から成り，試料は光源から光検出器までのどこかに挿入される。光源は安定性のよい白熱ランプや気体放電管が用いられ，分光器にはスペクトル分離のためのプリズム，フィルター，回折格子が併用されている。また光電池や光電子増倍管が光検出器に利用される。
