Born: Around 1486, near Siena Died: May 1551, Siena. Italian painter and sculptor. He lived in Rome from 1510 to 1512, but produced most of his works in Siena. One of the leading painters of Mannerism. Influenced by P. Perugino, Michelangelo, Sodoma, and R. Fiorentino, he developed his own style from around 17 to 18. His works include the series of murals in the chapel of San Bernardino in Siena (1517-18), the ceiling of the Siena Magistracy (29-35), and the marble pavement and bronze eight angels for Siena Cathedral.
