Naohiro Nabeshima

Naohiro Nabeshima
1846-1921 Daimyo and aristocrats from the late Edo period to the Taisho period.
Born on August 27, 1840. Second son of Nabeshima Kanso. In 1861, he became the 11th head of the Nabeshima clan, the lord of the Hizen Saga domain. After the Meiji Restoration, he held important positions in the new government, such as councillor. After studying in England, he was stationed in Italy as an envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary. Member of the House of Peers. Marquis. Died on June 19, 1921, at the age of 76. His original name was Naotada, later Shigezane.

弘化(こうか)3年8月27日生まれ。鍋島閑叟(かんそう)の次男。文久元年肥前佐賀藩主鍋島家11代となる。維新後,新政府の議定(ぎじょう)などの要職につく。イギリスに留学後,特命全権公使としてイタリアに駐在。貴族院議員。侯爵。大正10年6月19日死去。76歳。初名は直縄(なおただ),のち茂実(しげざね)。
