Born on August 27, 1840. Second son of Nabeshima Kanso. In 1861, he became the 11th head of the Nabeshima clan, the lord of the Hizen Saga domain. After the Meiji Restoration, he held important positions in the new government, such as councillor. After studying in England, he was stationed in Italy as an envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary. Member of the House of Peers. Marquis. Died on June 19, 1921, at the age of 76. His original name was Naotada, later Shigezane.
