A political analysis model by American political scientist D. Easton. Easton viewed politics as the "authoritative distribution of values," and was influenced by systems theory such as physiology and physics, and created a theory centered on the relationship between the input and output of systems and the environment. Almond and others later accepted this theory and used structural functional analysis to build a more sophisticated model. Easton's model is made up of the political system and the environment, input and output to the system, and feedback. He states that the political system is a device that converts input into output, with input = demands/support and output = decisions/policies.
