Kinohito - Kinohito

Japanese:
Kinohito - Kinohito
Year of death: Tenpyo 10.10.30 (738.12.15)
Year of birth: Unknown. According to the entry "Kaifuso", which contains three Chinese poems by a man, "died at age 57", he was born in Tenmu 11 (682 or 683). An official in the Nara period. Son of Kimaro. Father of Iemori. In December 705, he was ranked as Junior Fifth Rank. In January 721, he was ordered by imperial decree to serve the Crown Prince (later Emperor Shomu) along with Yamanoue Okura, Yamada Onokata, Rakuryou Kawachi, and Ki Kiyohito. This meant that he was in charge of educating the Crown Prince, and shows that he was a first-class man of letters. In January 730, while he was serving as Daini (Vice Minister) in Dazaifu (Dazaifu City), he composed a poem at a plum blossom banquet held at the home of Dazaifu Governor Otomo Tabito, entitled "Shogatsu tachi haruno kitarabakashi koso ume wo inbekkote tanoshiki soreheme" ("New Year's Beginning Spring Comes, a Hidden Plum Blossom Festival, a Happy End"), which is included in Volume 5 of the Manyoshu. He died while serving as Dazai Daini. The Suo Province Tax Register records that his remains were transported to Kyoto by a bone messenger.
