Kidera

Japanese:
Kidera
Currently known as Renjo-ji Temple, this temple is located in Nara City. There is a legend that it was founded by Gyoki, but in fact it was founded in Asuka during the reign of Emperor Tenchi with the Ki clan as its patron, and is believed to have been moved to its current location at Sakyo Gojo Shichibo after the capital was moved to Heijō. During the Nara period, it was a large temple with many slaves. Renjo-ji Temple, which appeared in the Heian period, is said to be the successor to Ki-ji Temple. During the Edo period, Kofuku-ji Temple and Jodo sect Seigan-ji Temple fought over whether it was a branch temple, but it now belongs to the Jodo Shinshu sect, having passed through the Tendai sect.
