Kitayama cedar
A regional brand of the Kinki region, Kyoto prefecture.
These are cedar logs planted in the Kitayama region of Kyoto Prefecture and the surrounding areas. They were planted from around the Oei era (1394-1428) as the logs for Kitayama logs. Kitayama cedar was selected as the tree of Kyoto Prefecture in 1974 (Showa 49). In February 2008 (Heisei 20), it was registered as a regional collective trademark with the Japan Patent Office. The trademark registration number is 5111905. The owners of the regional collective trademark are the Kyoto City Forestry Association, Keihoku Forestry Association, Miyama Town Forestry Association, Hiyoshi Town Forestry Association, and Yagi Town Forestry Association.
