Giso-gaku (English: Yi-shu-xue)

Japanese: 義疏学 - ぎそがく（英語表記）Yi-shu-xue

A form of Chinese classics. During the Six Dynasties period, probably influenced by the study of Buddhist scriptures, the study of Chinese classics also saw the addition of commentaries to the annotations of the Han and Wei periods, expanding and explaining the meaning of the classics and annotations. A representative example of this is the Commentary on the Analects of Confucius by Huang Kan of the Liang Dynasty during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and the completion of this style of study was the Five Classics Zhengyi of the Tang Dynasty.

中国の経学の一形態。六朝時代には，おそらくは仏典研究の影響を受けて，中国の経書の研究でも，漢，魏の時代の注に「疏」を加えて，経，注の意味を敷延，解説することが盛んに行われた。現存する代表的なものは南北朝，梁の皇侃 (おうがん) の『論語義疏』で，この学風の完成は唐の『五経正義』である。
