〘Noun〙① The process of rubbing the surface of fabric with grass. Also, the term itself. Similar to Shinobu-zuri. ※Gengyoku (around 1191-92) Kusa-ju-jo "Days pass in the fields, Shinohara, summer deepens, and the dew on the sleeves passes with grass rubbing ( Fujiwara Kanezane)"② Something that hangs down from the torso of armor to cover the thighs. 〘名〙① 布帛の表面を草で摺り染めにすること。また、そのもの。信夫摺(しのぶずり)などの類。※玄玉（1191‐92頃）草樹上「日数ゆく野原篠原夏ふかしわけゆく袖の露の草すり〈藤原兼実〉」② 鎧(よろい)の胴の下に垂れて、大腿部を覆うもの。大鎧には前、後、左脇に三間、脇楯(わいだて)に一間、合計四間を垂れる。腹巻(はらまき)、胴丸(どうまる)は細分して、六間ないし八間とし、五段下りを普通とする。腰の下にあって、草の摺れる部分にあるための名称という。下散(げさん)。※平家（１３Ｃ前）七「鎧の草摺ひきあげて二刀さし」③ (②から転じて) 前垂(まえだれ)の俗称。※雑俳・川柳評万句合‐明和元（1764）仁四「米つきはくさつりとって飯を食ひ」
