〘Noun〙① The process of rubbing the surface of fabric with grass. Also, the term itself. Similar to Shinobu-zuri. ※Gengyoku (around 1191-92) Kusa-ju-jo "Days pass in the fields, Shinohara, summer deepens, and the dew on the sleeves passes with grass rubbing ( Fujiwara Kanezane)"② Something that hangs down from the torso of armor to cover the thighs. For large armor, three ken hang from the front, back, and left side, and one ken from the waidate (side shield) , for a total of four ken. The haramaki (belly wrap) and domaru (body wrap) are further divided into six or eight ken, and a five-step downward style is common. It is said to have been named because it is located under the waist, in the area where the grass is rubbed. 〘名〙① 布帛の表面を草で摺り染めにすること。また、そのもの。信夫摺(しのぶずり)などの類。※玄玉(1191‐92頃)草樹上「日数ゆく野原篠原夏ふかしわけゆく袖の露の草すり〈藤原兼実〉」② 鎧(よろい)の胴の下に垂れて、大腿部を覆うもの。大鎧には前、後、左脇に三間、脇楯(わいだて)に一間、合計四間を垂れる。腹巻(はらまき)、胴丸(どうまる)は細分して、六間ないし八間とし、五段下りを普通とする。腰の下にあって、草の摺れる部分にあるための名称という。下散(げさん)。※平家(13C前)七「鎧の草摺ひきあげて二刀さし」③ (②から転じて) 前垂(まえだれ)の俗称。※雑俳・川柳評万句合‐明和元(1764)仁四「米つきはくさつりとって飯を食ひ」

〘名〙 風などで草がゆれ動き、互いにすれ合うこと。※一高寮歌・緑もぞ濃き柏葉の(1903)〈柴碩文〉「さ霧の闇に草摺れの 音聞えつつ木の下の」
