…He was the seventh son of Emperor Murakami, and was called Gochushuo (later Gochushuo) in contrast to Prince Rokujo and Prince Kaneaki. From an early age, he studied academic poetry and prose under Yoshishige Yasutane, and was influenced by his ideas. In 991 (Shoreki 2), he clarified the sources of Chinese books quoted in Zhanren's Shikan Bugyoden Guketsu, an important Tendai sect text, and wrote the Guketsu Gaidensho, which includes commentary. Many of the Chinese books cited in this book are no longer in circulation. …
