〘 noun 〙 One of the makeup styles in Kabuki. A typical example of the indigo-colored makeup that expresses the negativity of evil. It is used for sly, evil nobles such as Shihei in "Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami" and Iruka in "Otome no Fujo Teikin." Examples include the indigo-colored makeup worn by Yamanaka Heikuro and the brown-colored makeup worn by Nakajima Sanpoemon. 〘名〙 歌舞伎の隈取りの一つ。悪の陰性を表わす藍隈の代表的なもの。「菅原伝授手習鑑」の時平(しへい)、「妹背山婦女庭訓」の入鹿(いるか)など、陰険な公家悪に用いる。山中平九郎工夫の藍隈、中島三甫衛門工夫の茶隈などがその例。
