A device that applies a force that changes in a sinusoidal waveform over time to a structure to induce forced vibration. It is different from a vibration table, which vibrates a structure placed on a stand. It can be broadly divided into those that apply force to a structure from the outside using piston motion, and those that are attached to the structure itself and apply force using centrifugal force. Since the magnitude and frequency of the applied force can be controlled, by systematically changing the frequency (period) of the excitation force and measuring the vibration displacement generated in each part of the structure, the resonant frequency (natural frequency) of the structure, as well as the shape and damping of the vibration at that time, can be determined.
