A Shintoist of the Suika school in the early to mid-Edo period. Commonly known as Kunai, his pen names were Terumi and Jujosai. Born February 12, 1271. A samurai with a stipend of 2,500 koku. He first learned Yoshida Shinto from Shiki Taikan, and later learned Suika Shinto from Takeshita Riyuan, Tamaki Isai (1671-1736), Shibukawa Harumi, and Ogimachi Kinmichi. He later learned Neo-Confucianism from Sato Naokata and left Shinto for a time, but returned and disowned Nokata. He retired from his public office in middle age due to eye disease and eventually went blind, but with the help of Tomobe Yasutaka (1668-1740), he furthered his studies of Shinto and reached a deep faith. He wrote many books, including "Jindai-maki Konton-sou." He died on January 27, 14th year of the Kyoho era. He is buried at Gyokuso-ji Temple in Aoyama, Tokyo.
