…Yorikane continued to serve as Ouchi Shugo even after the establishment of the Kamakura Shogunate, but in 1188 (Bun'ei 4), Yorikane appealed to the Shogunate and Imperial Court that he could not handle the job with his own military force alone, and was given the role of Gokenin from the Hokuriku region. In 1190 (Kenkyu 1), Yasuda Yoshisada was appointed to assist him, and he was also called Kinri Shugoban. Both the Hokkoku Gokenin and Yoshisada were weak points in the Shogunate's control, and it seems that at this stage the Ouchi Shugo was relatively independent from the Dairi (Sato Dairi) Daiban, which was under the Shogunate's control. …
