[Human small intestine]
The human small intestine is a long, tubular organ that occupies the part of the digestive tract that follows the stomach and lies between the stomach and the large intestine. It consists of three parts: the duodenum, the jejunum, and the ileum. The duodenum is fixed to the posterior abdominal wall, but the jejunum and ileum have a mesentery and are highly mobile.
