A mountain in the eastern part of the Kojima Peninsula in southern Okayama Prefecture. It is 403m above sea level and lies on the border between Okayama City and Tamano City. Its name is said to come from the legend that a golden helmet was buried there. There is a TV tower on the summit, and from there you can see Lake Kojima and the reclaimed land of Kojima Bay to the north, Shodoshima and the Ieshima Islands in the distance to the east, and across the waters of the Bisan Seto Strait to Kagawa Prefecture's Gokensan, Yashima, and Goshikidai. On the northern foot of the mountain are Nuzukayama and Kinkoyama Onsen. The area from Kinkoyama to Kaigarayama is collectively known as Kounandai, and belongs to the Setonaikai National Park. A driveway leads to the summit. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
