…It is a transliteration of Sanskrit Ucchuṣma, and originally referred to Agni, the god of fire, in India. It is also written as Ussema, and is called Fukakaku Vajra, Kato Vajra, Ketsuku Vajra, Fujo Vajra, and Sensaku Vajra. He is mainly worshipped as a Myo-o with the miraculous power to burn away all impurities and evil, and as a deity who cleanses the dirt of corpses, the place where women give birth, and animal blood, and in Shingon and Zen Buddhism he is often worshipped as the guardian deity of the toilet, or Tosu. In Esoteric Buddhism, he is called the Ukusama Henjiyōnshi no Ho (Henjiyōnshi) and was believed by the aristocratic society as a secret method to change a girl in the womb into a boy before birth. …
