A town in Kamiina County in southern Nagano Prefecture. Iijima, the central area of the Iida Line, is located in the Ina Basin. During the Edo period, it was a government-owned territory and had a jin'ya (camp) there, and was also a post station on the Sanshu Kaido road. The town produces rice, pears, apples, mushrooms, and flowers. The Nijisseiki pear is a local specialty. 長野県南部,上伊那郡の町。飯田線が通じる中心の飯島は伊那盆地にあり,江戸時代は天領で陣屋が置かれ,三州街道の宿駅でもあった。米,ナシ,リンゴ,キノコ類,花卉(かき)を産する。特産物に二十世紀ナシ。西部は木曾山脈で南駒ヶ岳,空木岳(うつぎだけ)がそびえる。86.96km2。9902人(2010)。
