...One form of this is bhajan, an expression of devotion (bhakti), a means of attaining union with God. The songs that Islamic Sufis sing as a means of ecstasy are called qawwali. Thumri, a lyric song that is a form of highly artistic song, sings of the love between Radha and the cowherd girls for Krishna.
