An insect of the family Cerambycidae in the order Coleoptera. Body length is about 8 mm. The body is black with a large red pattern in the center of the pronotum. The abdomen is reddish brown. The elytra are densely covered with short gray hairs. The antennae are almost the same length as the body. It is a major pest of chrysanthemums. Adults bite into the stems of chrysanthemums in a ring shape and lay eggs, causing the stems beyond that to wither. The larvae feed inside the stems toward the base. They appear from April to August and are distributed in Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Korea, China, Siberia, Taiwan, etc.
