There are two types of tableware: shared tableware, which is used by several people who are eating together, and individual tableware, which is used by each person. In terms of modern Japanese tableware, shared tableware includes earthenware pots for drinking tea, large bowls for serving stews, and large salad plates, while rice bowls, soup bowls, small plates, teacups, and chopsticks are individual tableware.
