Corporate Responsibility

This refers to the responsibility of a company to compensate others for damages caused by its activities. Large companies under modern capitalism often become sources of pollution such as mining and smoke pollution, which were not seen before, and often involve dangers and disasters such as car accidents in their activities. Moreover, such pollution and dangers are often unavoidable for the victims, and it is difficult to prove the negligence of the perpetrator. Therefore, in order to protect victims, it has become an issue to impose heavier liability than usual, such as no-fault liability, on companies that engage in such activities and make huge profits. 企業がその活動によって他人に与えた損害を賠償すべき責任をいう。現代資本主義下の大企業では，その活動において従来みられなかった鉱害，煙害などの公害源となったり，自動車事故などの危険や災害を伴うことが多い。しかも，このような公害，危険はその被害者にとって予防不可能なものが多く，また加害者の過失を立証することの困難がつきまとうので，このような活動を営み，しかも多大の利益をあげている企業に対し，被害者保護のため，たとえば無過失賠償責任のように通常よりは重い責任を負わせることが課題となってきた。 (→無過失責任 )
