Vater's papilla (English spelling)

…The common bile duct merges with the main pancreatic duct and opens on the inside of the second part, forming an inlet for pancreatic juice and bile. This opening is elevated above the mucous membrane and is called the major papilla (or greater duodenal papilla, Vater's papilla). The muscle of Oddi surrounds the opening of the duct, which regulates the secretion of pancreatic juice and bile.
