...The pappus is feathery. It is found from the Korean Peninsula to northern Kyushu (Tsushima), but in Honshu, a species with shallowly incised leaves is found, called A. acerifolia var. subapoda Nakai. On the other hand, A. acerifolia var. acerifolia , with deeply incised leaves, is found in Kyushu, Shikoku, and western Japan, including parts of the Chugoku and Kinki regions.
