Assault - assault
In land warfare, this refers to a surprise attack without giving the enemy any warning. It is also called a charge. Attacking undefended areas is prohibited, but even in the case of an attack on a defended area by artillery, it is desirable to give as much warning as possible out of humanitarian considerations for civilians.

陸戦において，敵に攻撃の予告を与えることなく不意に襲撃することをいう。突撃ともいう。防守されていない地域に対しての攻撃は禁止されているが，防守されている地域の砲撃による攻撃の場合にも，一般市民に対する人道的考慮から，できるかぎり予告砲撃が望まれている。
