A member of the imperial family in the mid-Edo period. Son of Imperial Prince Kan'innomiya Naohito. His name was Sukehito and he was called Jizaiōin. In 1742 (Kanpo 2), he became the adopted son of Emperor Nakamikado, and the following year he was proclaimed prince and inherited the Kan'innomiya family. In 1780 (An'ei 9), when the sixth prince (Emperor Kokaku) ascended to the throne, he requested the honorary title of Dajo Emperor, but was refused by the shogunate, which led to the so-called Emperor Title Incident. In 1884 (Meiji 17), at the suggestion of Nakayama Tadayoshi, Emperor Keikō was posthumously given the honorary title.
